Richard’s Kenya Blog: January 31

Today was our final day in Kenya. A Member of Parliament invited me to speak at her church this morning. Then we held the final night of the crusade. It was a powerful time spent in God’s presence.

The crowd stretched from one side of Uhuru Park to the other, and I saw faces upon faces of Kenyans as far as the eye could see. It was estimated that there were at least 200,000 people there.

I could feel the excitement and anticipation in the air as everyone prepared to receive from God. Many special guests performed, including traditional Maasai dancers, Bishop Kitonga’s choir/dance troupe, and Ben Githae, a popular Kenyan singer. Then I prayed that the people present at Uhuru Park would hear the Holy Spirit speaking through me so that Jesus would be lifted up in their midst. I encouraged everyone to remember that Jesus went about doing good and healing the sick, because God was with Him…that God is a good God who is for us and not against us…and that when God sees us sick, He is moved with compassion to heal us.

The anointing of the Lord was so strong on me that I was led to start praying right away for those with back problems. I told them to receive their healing from God, and I asked them to test themselves by bending over and twisting from side to side. Hundreds of people streamed forward to the altar to praise God for healing in their backs. It was a beautiful sight. Then the Lord led me to pray for those with pain in their bodies, and again, a huge segment of the crowd raised their hands, believed God, and came down front to testify that they felt the pain leave them.

As God’s healing power continued to flow, we saw many more people come forward to praise God for their miracle. Nellie had severe chest pain, but God healed her tonight. Now she can breathe fully and without pain. Nine-year-old Ian had asthma all his life. His mother told us that she had never seen her son run because he couldn’t catch his breath. But God touched him during the crusade. He ran all the way down to the altar to praise God! And he was able to take deep breaths and hold his breath with no problems. It was truly a miracle-filled night.

As we closed the meeting, Jordan prayed for the children of Kenya to live a life dedicated to the Lord. At the salvation call, hundreds of people gathered at the altar to give their lives to Jesus Christ. We prayed in agreement that those with terminal diseases such as cancer and HIV/AIDS would receive a miracle healing, and we are expecting good reports to come in as people receive a clean bill of health from their doctors. Kelly Wright and the ORM singers closed the night with praise.

What a wonderful, powerful time this crusade has been. From the bottom of my heart, I thank everyone who has helped us reach Kenya this year. It has made a great impact, and I believe we will continue to see the fruit of the work God has begun here.
