Richard’s Kenya Blog: January 29
Our medical team went to an entirely different section of the city to hold a clinic in the neighborhood of Kayole. They were able to see several hundred people in five hours…many suffering from common, yet serious, ailments that afflict the people of Kenya, especially the poor—tuberculosis, HIV, parasite infestations, malaria, and typhoid fever. Many patients also had symptoms related to poor nutrition, such as anemia and other illnesses.
The clinic was a tremendous blessing to the people in that community…including children like Richard, a nine-year-old who came in with a fungal infection on his scalp. The medicine to treat his condition is relatively inexpensive, but for Richard’s mother, Lucy, money is hard to come by.
We were able to give her the medicine her son needed. Thirty-year-old Caroline told us that she came to see us because she heard that a medical team was moving around Nairobi, and she needed treatment for headache and fever that comes at night…typical symptoms of malaria. We were also able to give her much-needed medications.
It’s easy to see why Jesus had such compassion on the needy. Our team makes sure they do everything the can to treat people spirit, soul and body. And as a result, at least 170 people received Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior during the clinic.
Later in the afternoon, we started our three-day crusade in Nairobi’s Uhuru Park with great rejoicing. My good friend, Fox News’ Kelley Wright, led the large crowd in song, followed by the ORM singers. My daughter, Jordan, greeted everyone and updated them on Hunger Needs a Voice®, which has supplied two million meals all around the nation, including at our medical clinics. Then I encouraged the crowd to remember that sickness is death reaching out its hand, but God wants us well in every area of our lives.
I also told them that when you send the Word of God into people’s lives, the miracles of Jesus begin to happen! God told me this week that when I send the Word to declare healing, He would bring it to pass. Then I prayed for the people. Immediately, several people hurried down to the altar to tell us what God had just done for them.

Marta’s back pain of eight years had disappeared, and she could bend over with no problems. Ben hadn’t been able to lift his legs in 20 years, but now he can run like a young man. Ethan couldn’t see out of his left eye for three years, but tonight God healed him. Julius told me he was sitting at the top of the hill at the farthest point from the altar. He had been deaf in his right ear. But when I said, “I send the Word of healing to you,” Julius could suddenly hear me. And at least 1,000 people gave their lives to the Lord tonight. This is just the beginning of what God is doing in Kenya. I can’t wait for tomorrow!
