Mission: Nicaragua

Wow, we had a full day today. Jordan, Adrian and our team members visited 10 orphanages today in Managua, bringing medicines, vitamins, and food to more than 200 kids ranging in age from under a year to over 18 years old. We also were able to deliver a much needed washing machine to one location where the workers had been washing the children’s diapers and clothes by hand.

I’m so proud of my team here. They worked for hours, giving all the orphans wellness exams and medical care, as well as praying for them. And the best news of all – we saw salvations too! Praise God! Some of the orphanage workers even asked us for prayer and ministry, which of course we were thrilled to do for them.

These orphans have many needs. They’ve been abandoned or hurt. As you can imagine, these children need lots of love and encouragement…that’s one reason Jordan is attracted to them. She loves reaching out to them with the love of Jesus. Several had very sad stories – I can still picture the one-year-old with fetal alcohol syndrome and the little girl who was burned as an infant and is undergoing surgery after surgery for skin repair. But these kids also have big dreams. They told us what they want to be when they grow up – doctors, scientists, civil engineers, teachers, preachers, evangelists. What a privilege to pray with them and encourage them to pursue God, the One who will help them achieve their dreams.

Ministry like this really charges me up! And to put the icing on the cake, I got to do one of my favorite things tonight. I spoke at a pastors’ conference. I love ministering to pastors because they are the ones who care for those who are saved, delivered, and healed in our crusades. They are so important to God’s plans for any nation. So to me, an evangelistic outreach includes building up the shepherds who tend God’s sheep.

I encouraged these godly men and women to move out in the gifts of the Holy Spirit, shared some of the different ways God heals people. and then demonstrated the laying on of hands. I asked three people with back pain to come up front and then laid hands on them. The first person felt relief, the second one had no more pain, and the third one fell to the ground. When she got up, she removed a brace she wore for her back that was under her shirt. Praise went up to the Lord for His healing power.

Then I reminded everyone that it’s God who does miracles. I’m just a human being who is willing to just believe what Jesus said – that we can lay hands on the sick and they shall recover. That’s God’s agenda! And every pastor there has the privilege through Jesus to step out in faith and see miracles, just as I’m doing. I then laid hands on every pastor for a special impartation from the Holy Spirit. The atmosphere was charged with faith and I was glad to be a part of what God is doing to build His church in Nicaragua. Praise Him!
